Creating a Profile

We provide a place in cyberspace for sighted and blind cyclists to connect with one another. But, we do not physically introduce riders to one another. Nor do we verify any representations made by and between users of our site. Thus, it is your responsibility to make wise, informed decisions when choosing tandem partners.

CREATINGPROFILE

  1. Sign up and create a username.  You are never asked for your real name or your home address on this website.  You are only identified by your username.

  2. Next, enter an email address.  Your address will be hidden from view on the site.

  3. Select your role, captain (sighted cyclist), or stoker (blind cyclist).

  4. Agree to our Terms of Use.

  5. You’ll receive a message from bicycling blind in your email inbox. Open the email to find a link to the bicycling blind website and a temporary password to enter the site.  If you don’t receive a message from us, please check your Junk or Spam box in your email account.  Then, please make us a safe sender so you’ll be sure to receive emails from captains and/or stokers trying to contact you.

  6. For the cycling profile, you’ll answer questions about your height and weight, the type of riding you do or want to do, and your level of experience. Your answers will be visible to other users and will assist other cyclists in determining if they could ride a tandem with you. Likewise, when you search for a partner, you’ll see other users’ responses on their profiles. Also, we’ve suggested safety guidelines for your first meeting. Ultimately, you need to use your own judgment, skills, and intuition in making your tandem cycling connections.
